 Carnaval San Francisco

Date: May 27-28

Carnaval San Francisco is California’s largest annual multi-cultural celebration and it’s set to sizzle in San Francisco over Memorial Day weekend. Dora the Explorer, the ever-popular heroine, leads this year’s Grand Parade as the Grand Marshal. That alone should be enough to get your kids muy excited about attending this fun festival.

Showcasing Latin American and Caribbean cultures and traditions, Carnaval includes a myriad of food, music, dance and artistry, including works created by the community of Mission District residents and Bay Area artists.

Several stages offer music and dance for the entire family. The event spans seven blocks, so there is plenty to explore and discover.

On Sunday, the Grand Parade begins at 9:30 am, ending at the festival area, with Dora in the lead. This unique happening began 28 years ago when a group of local musicians and artists wanted to bring the spirit of these colorful cultures to San Francisco.

While the event promotes community growth, your family will just know it promotes fun and a lively atmosphere to wander around and enjoy. Be prepared to eat, dance and shop throughout the weekend as you experience the tropical traditions of these exotic lands.
