San Francisco’s Shakespeare Festival, in its 23rd presentation, presents the production of “Much Ado About Nothing.” Often called “the best of the Bard,” this rollicking play takes the tale of two very different love stories and combines the comic with the serious, the ridiculous with the romantic.
Imagine joining family and friends, spreading a blanket and enjoying a leisurely summer evening’s picnic in the park, followed by a hearty helping of laughter as only Shakespeare can deliver.
Setting the often-told tale in 1930’s Spain, Director Kenneth Kelleher dispenses an interesting interpretation of this riotous romp, leaving intact Shakespeare’s cleverly crafted lines, and actors Julia Brothers and Stephen Klum as Beatrice and Benedick and
Michael Navarra and Sophia Ahmad as Claudio and Hero are fully up to the challenge of allowing these amusing quips and quills to flow as easily as one might have heard in the 1500s at London’s old Globe Theatre.
