San Francisco’s Opera Show Medley at the Great Star Theatre is a show that will enthrall you and your kids. While younger children might not understand the stories, they’ll enjoy watching the tales unfold all the same. The costumes are spectacular as is the makeup these characters wear.
You can do some background research into the stories being told and share with your kids what’s going to happen onstage. Included in this year’s medley are “The First Lady Emperor”, “Strange Encounter” and “Meeting at the Temple” among others. Each Cantonese opera tells a different story through music and great pageantry.
You and your kids will enjoy watching the movement as well as listening to the singing and music. If you are not of Asian descent, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this fascinating and storied culture.
