 Comcast San Jose Jazz Festival

Time: August 11-14, 2005, Thu-Fri, 5:30pm, Sat, 12pm-12am, Sun, 12pm-7pm

The Comcast San Jose Jazz Festival presents more than 80 acts over four days…and it’s absolutely free! From brand new performers to seasoned professionals, salsa to traditional jazz and modern to blues, the Festival promises something for everyone and music for all ages.

Want more than four days of free music? On Aug. 10, the San Pedro Cinema will present the Frank Silva Quartet in a free concert prior to their showing of “Moonstruck,” starring Cher and Nicholas Cage. The Festival also offers the San Jose Museum of Art exhibit, “The Jazz Photograph: Four Vision”…and admission is free.

Serious jazz fans will want to attend the San Jose Jazz Society’s Opening Night Gala on Aug. 14, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the California Theatre, where Jane Moheit is scheduled to perform after dinner and auction, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Throughout the Festival, enjoy music from a number of downtown stages plus plenty of food and drink from vendors at every venue.

There’ll be jam sessions galore, a jazz mass, and too many performers to name…but don’t miss the legendary Louie Bellson Saturday on the Main Stage and Jazz After Dark with David Ladd and the Downtown All Stars.
