San Francisco’s Stern Grove Festival has been around for 69 years and continues to get better every year. The beautiful environment was given as a gift to the city in 1931. The former owner noticed the grove’s natural acoustics ad determined the site should be preserved as a park that the public could enjoy admission-free. The result is this great concert series that offers attendees a wide array of musical choices in a beautiful, natural scene. August’s concerts include the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, the San Francisco Ballet and Ozomatli from Los Angeles.
The variety of performances is eclectic and appealing to a wide audience. You can pick one or make plans for all three, since each is decidedly different from the one before. You can bring a picnic or you can purchase a variety of foods from the onsite vendors.
Either way, come for the day and enjoy the environment and of course, the great music.
