The Steinhart Aquarium, part of The California Academy of Sciences, is in the process of moving and will reopen in its new location in 2008. Steinhart Aquarium is conveniently located at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park.
The whole family will certainly be entertained by this excellent facility, full of exotic marine life, and with a staff that is dedicated to their care and preservation. This aquarium has a number of fascinating exhibits including four African penguins that recently became part of the Steinhart Aquarium family, in hopes of preserving the species. View lots of different fish and other marine animals at the coral reef tank, the second largest live coral exhibit in the country. Don’t miss the wonderful little seahorses and the vast variety of angel fish.
If you like amphibians, there are plenty of those here as well and the Discovery Tide Pool is a favorite with children, allowing them the opportunity to touch some of the friendliest creatures in the aquarium.
