San Francisco Chinatown
Location: Grant Ave. and Bush St., San Francisco
Chinatown in San Francisco is home to the largest concentration of Chinese citizens
outside of Asia. This neighborhood is one of the most visited in the city and tourists
travel here for the fine food, unique shops, and other important cultural experiences
like concerts or theatrical productions.
Chinatown has two main streets, Grant and Stockton, and is about 8 blocks long.
At Bush and Grant, you’ll find the great Dragon Gate, fun to walk through and even
better for taking pictures to help you remember your visit. Down Grant Street, you’ll
find the most touristy section of the neighborhood, with lots of restaurants and
stores peddling colorful Chinese merchandise including apparel, jewelry, and martial
arts equipment.
Remember to check out the little alleyways off the main streets to find unique Chinese
herbal medicine shops, antique stores, and other fascinating retail establishments.
Visitors of all ages will enjoy making a stop at the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie
Company to watch how cookies are made and how the little messages get inside! Also
be sure to check out Lulu Lillies Yoga Shop if you're a yoga fan.
