House San Francisco
Location: 1090 Point Lobos Ave., San Francisco
The Cliff House, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This magnificent
image taken from Ocean Beach shows the grandeur of the Victorian-era, Gingerbread
style of the Cliff House. Open in 1896 it managed to survived the 1906 Earthquake
that devastated the city of San Francisco, but met its demised in 1907 when it was
destroyed by a fire that started in the kitchen. Today, the third Cliff House stands
in the same location as the previous two, allowing visitors to come and enjoy the
spectacular views from its vantage point. It is located near the remains of the
Sutro Baths and Sutro Heights Park.
