Fort
Mason San Francisco
Location: Between Fisherman’s Wharf and the Golden Gate
Bridge, San Francisco
Fort Mason, a former military installation and port of embarkation, is the headquarters
for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and a valuable recreational resource
for San Francisco. Fort Mason Center's Herbst and Festival Pavilions, located in
lower Fort Mason, are used frequently for large exhibitions, fairs, celebrations,
concerts, etc.
Other buildings house museums and galleries, theatres and arts centers for adults
and children. Visitors can take a discovery walk of the grounds, have a picnic,
or just enjoy the view from one of the most advantageous spots along the northern
waterfront.
