Golden
Gate Bridge San Francisco
Location: US Highway 101, San Francisco
The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most recognizable bridges in the world. This
beautiful orange-colored bridge has been ushering travelers from downtown San Francisco
to beautiful neighboring Marin County since 1937, when it officially opened to traffic.
This suspension bridge is 1.7 miles long and may be traversed via automobile, bicycle,
or on foot. It crosses the 400-foot-deep Golden Gate Strait and its familiar towers
stretch 746 feet into the air. The bridge is built in an Art Deco theme, matching
a number of other San Francisco landmarks, including Coit Tower on the top of Nob
Hill.
You can’t possibly leave San Francisco without taking a snapshot of the Golden Gate
Bridge, which is possible from many locations near the waterfront, including Fisherman’s
Wharf. A bay cruise will also provide you with lots of great photo-taking opportunities
of the bridge.
