Jack
London Square Oakland / San Francisco
Location: 311 Broadway, Oakland
Jack London Square in Oakland is a lovely, historic area but the waterfront where
visitors gather to admire the view, shop, and grab a bite to eat.
This pretty area, however, is home to a lot more than stores and restaurants. You’ll
find a number of museums including the African American Museum and Library, the
excellent Museum of Children’s Art, and the Oakland Museum of California, designed
to deepen visitors’ understanding of California's environment, history, art and
people. Visitors can also rent canoes and kayaks at the marina in Jack London Square
or hop aboard the USS Potomac for a tour of the boat known as FDR’s Floating White
House.
The NFL Oakland Raiders and major league baseball’s Oakland A’s play nearby and
you can also catch a Golden State Warriors basketball game as well. There’s a fun-to-browse
Farmer’s Market open on Wednesdays and Sundays and guests can wander through a number
of shops, from large chain stores like Barnes and Noble to small specialty shops.
Dining options include sit-down restaurants featuring fine seafood and other fare,
as well as places to grab a quick bite to eat, an ice cream cone, or a cold drink.
