A Howling Good Halloween! Halloween can be terrific fun for
your kids without being scary or unsafe. If you want to provide
family-friendly good times during the Halloween season, just take
our advice and your brood will be enjoying a rollicking good holiday
before you know it.
Get in the spirit of the season by decorating your
space. Pumpkin lights, peel and stick moons and stars, hanging skeletons and a
Halloween flag are all must-haves for a fun, festive Halloween décor.
Get the kids in on the action—they’ll soon be in
the scary spirit. When you’ve got everything looking just right, it’s time to
plan some activities for the big night.
Have the kids invite their friends, and you can
host a ghostless get-together featuring games, stories, a video or two (Have
your kids seen Ghostbusters?) and some “witches’ brew” that will have everyone
on the edge of their seats with ghoulish glee.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween without some
pumpkins. Why not have a pumpkin painting session using finger paints?
Let kids of
all ages get in on the fun and paint the most colorful pumpkin.
Award each kid a prize—magic wands or glow sticks are always
favorites. You could close the evening by reading aloud from a
not-so-scary story and then turn off all the lights except an orange
lava light, and let pumpkins dance in their heads.
