Bay Area Discovery Museum, with a mission to “educate children through exploration of and connection with the local environment and the diverse communities that live here,” is a definite favorite with kids.

This indoor/outdoor museum has been nationally recognized for its innovative displays and activities, offering hands-on art, science, environmental and media exhibitions, lots of special events, performances, and more. Located on 7 ½ acres in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in Sausalito, the Bay Area Discovery Museum features a re-creation of the habitat underneath the Golden Gate Bridge in the waters of the Bay.

It is an Art Studio where kids can be creative, a Lookout Cove where children can dig to their hearts content, and two tot areas, where the little ones can take a play break. The 180-seat theater welcomes families to enjoy a variety of performing arts forms, from puppet shows to circus acts.
