Point Museum San Francisco
Location: 1651 Coyote Point Drive, San Mateo
The Coyote Point Museum's goal is to educate people, especially
children, to take care of nature. Located on one of the most beautiful areas of
San Mateo, the Museum achieves it's goal by housing four distinct and interconnecting
areas that are directly linked to Bay Area ecosystems.
Thumbed Gardens
Thumbed Gardens features several distinct gardens such
as a Hummingbird Garden, Butterfly Habitat and Nature's Marketplace where plants
used by California Indians grow.
Aviary
The Aviary is nestled in a park-like atmosphere where
indigenous birds make their home. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the
city and venture out to this peaceful place. Environmental Hall Travel through various
Bay Area ecosystems such as Redwood Forest, Oak Forest, Grasslands, Chaparral, Baylands
and Coast and learn intricacies of the systems.
Wildlife Habitats
The staff at The Coyote Point Museum has adopted over
150 rescued native California animals such as a bobcat, river otters, rattlesnakes
and red-legged frogs. The Wildlife Habitat has become their home.
