For almost 40 years, the Magic Theatre has been dedicated to the development and production of new plays. One of the most important theaters in America, the Magic sponsors the work of established and emerging playwrights and artists. Magic's history started in 1967 by John Lion in Berkley.

 

The name was chosen from the novel Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse, wherein the character attends a performance at the theater by the same name. Since then, more than 200 works have developed and premiered at the Magic Theater. The Magic Theater the future is bright. They are continually receiving support from major institutions and patrons for the arts to continue in their excellent work.
