Vampire
Tour of San Francisco
Location: California and Taylor Sts, San Francisco
The Vampire Tour of San Francisco allows you to explore
the Gothic side of Nob Hill. Meet Mina Harker, Vampress who was made by Count Dracula
in London in 1897, and banished by him to the United States. Mina has resided on
and under the streets of San Francisco for over 100 years. Hear her story, and learn
how Vampires have played an important part in the shaping of San Francisco as we
know it today.
To be part of this tour, meet Mina on the corner of California
and Taylor Streets, just outside Huntington Park. You will visit Grace Cathedral,
The Nob Hill Cafe, Huntington Park, The Pacific-Union Club, The Fairmont Hotel,
The Mark Hopkins Hotel, The Nob Hill Inn, and The Marines' Memorial Club. Mina will
tell you the history of each of these stops, and how Vampires played a role in that
history. You might call it, "History with a Twist."
Nob Hill can get very chilly, so please wear warm clothes.
When Mark Twain said, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco,"
he wasn't kidding! Winters are almost as cold. Also, since this is a walking tour
and there is a steep 3 block walk downhill to the last stop, be sure to wear comfortable
shoes.
